Midcoast Health Care Reform begins campaign to get signatures for a "Single Payer Health Care for All" Maine Citizen's Ballot Initiative This initiative will ask the Maine Legislature to formally endorse HR 676 and call on the Congress and President of the United States to enact HR 676. We will be sending our inititiative text to the Maine Secretary of State for approval this week. Come to our next meeting and help us make "Single Payer Healthcare for All" a reality. Read the initiative. We also recommend that you go to Healthcare-Now and sign the national HR 676 petition. Thank you. Jerry Call Is Guest Columnist in the Courier-Gazette In his May 3 guest column, Jerry talks about HR 676 and says "The National Single Payer System would eliminate the for-profit health care insurance companies and HMO’s and thus would generate a $350 billion savings in the health-care system every year (14 percent savings)."
